...A Blogger...

With the arrival of summer imminent, I have decided to attempt to blog...again.  Such wit and talent should be shared with the world, I think.  I have also decided that I want to make my life and surroundings resemble the movie Pride & Prejudice as closely as is possible.  I feel that these efforts should be documented for entertainment, posterity, or both.

As for the title of the blog, it comes from Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.  I read the book when I was in the fourth grade, and I remember watching this movie countless times with my sweet Nana (along with Forrest Gump and E.T.).  Because of its inherent awesomeness and obvious emotional connections, it is one of my favorite movie/book combos.  Even though I was just a little girl, I remember being particularly struck by a set of lines.  When Jo March, the intelligent, strong-willed protagonist, finds herself suddenly dissatisfied with her life, she travels to New York to make something of herself.  While in New York, she lives in a boarding house where she is surrounded by many professional men.  During one particular conversation, the men are discussing women's suffrage. Jo's opinion is solicited, and she gives it thusly:
"I find it poor logic to say that because women are good, women should vote.  Men do not vote because they are good; they vote because they are male. Women should vote not because we are angels and men are animals, but because we are human beings and citizens of this country."
The men are quietly impressed by Jo's answer, and Mr. Mayer responds by saying, "You should have been a lawyer, Miss March."
"I should have been a great many things," Jo replies.

Even as a small girl, I identified with this sentiment.  There are so many things to see and do and feel and become in life. How can you choose just one? I certainly cannot. I choose to be a great many things.
